Last Saturday, I ran a 5K for local fallen firemen that lost their lives battling a Knights of Columbus hall fire in Bryan, TX. Also, for two that just were released from the burn unit in Galveston, TX but still undergoing treatments. This was the Run for Remembrance. All proceeds from this 5K went to the firemen's families. There were a little over a 1000 participants. This was held at the Brayton Fire Training facilities in College Station, TX. Firemen from all over the world come to this facility for training in different types of fires. The course was all through out the facility. So we had very interesting scenarios to look at along the way......derailed trains, overturned cars, industrial piping, gas piping, etc...We had, in my opinion, absolutely perfect running weather.....clear sunny skies with a starting temperature of 50. God bless these firemen, and all firemen and their families for their bravery in battling fires.
This was as we turned off the highway going into the facility.
